Unison Solutions has developed biogas upgrading systems that economically produce BioCNG, a biogas-based fuel, to power vehicles designed for compressed natural gas (CNG). In addition to producing fuel that meets SAE J1616 quality for CNG fueling, our upgrading systems will meet stringent natural gas pipeline specifications.

How does it work?

  • Biogas is piped to the BioCNG conditioning system from the landfill or anaerobic digester
  • Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S), Moisture (H2O), Siloxanes, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) are removed. Other constituents such as bacteria may also be removed depending on the pipeline specifications
  • Renewable natural gas (RNG) is then compressed and either injected into the natural gas pipeline or used directly in CNG vehicles
